Background
Dr. Broderick is an interventional cardiologist whose subspecialties are coronary artery disease Intervention and peripheral vascular disease intervention. He specializes in angiography and angioplasty procedures. He also serves as a fellow for the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association Council on Clinical Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions.

If there is such a thing as a medical gene, Dr. Broderick has it. His father was a physician and his mother was a nurse and five of his seven siblings became physicians. Two of his five children are in medical school and one is training to be a nurse.

Dr. Broderick was born and raised in Cincinnati. He graduated summa cum laude from Xavier University and received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He went on to Indiana University Medical Center for his internship and residency in internal medicine, and then remained there to complete a cardiology fellowship in angioplasty. He returned to his hometown in 1989, when he joined Cincinnati Heart and Vascular, which in turn became part of Ohio Heart & Vascular Center in 1995. He has been namded to the Best Doctors in America® list every year since the survey began in 1998.

Dr. Broderick is actively involved in research at The Christ Hospital Lindner Center, which is clinical-based work. “We’re taking care of patients with cardiovascular problems and applying new techniques, new medicines or a combination of those things in hopes of trying to improve the clinical outcome.”

In addition to his research and clinical responsibilities, Dr. Broderick serves on several prestigious boards and committees. He serves on the American Heart Association Board, The Christ Hospital Executive Committee, The Christ Hospital Board and The Christ Hospital College of Nursing Board.. He also serves as the Operations Committee Medical Director, is a member of the Executive Committee for Ohio Heart and will serve as the Chief of Staff for The Christ Hospital in 2011.

Dr. Broderick devotes his spare time to his family and an occasional sporting event. He follows the Bengals and Reds, but admits that his first love is still Xavier’s basketball team. His wife Cindy is a school nurse for Ursuline Academy, a private girl’s prep school. Their five children, three boys and two girls, ranges in age from 15 to 26. The Brodericks have two pets, a Wheaten Terrier named Rosie and a friendly outdoor cat named Buddy.

Dr. Broderick looks at cardiology as “a unique opportunity to help take care of people. In many jobs, at the end of the day, you may or may not feel like you have accomplished anything. Not so with cardiology. There have been moments when I’ve taken someone from the jaws of death, so to speak. Someone who was extremely ill and it looked as if they weren’t going to make it through . . . I’ve been able to actually and truly save someone’s life.”

He was named as one of the 2007-2008 Best Doctors in America®
