Background
Dr. Kong practices general and interventional cardiology, including coronary peripheral and venous intervention. In laymen’s terms, he treats general conditions affecting the heart, with a special emphasis on circulatory blockages of the heart and the arterial system. He performs angioplasty, stenting, and the minimally invasive treatment of varicose veins.

Born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, his father was an engineer and his mother was a physician. He earned an undergraduate degree in engineering at Duke University, and then went on to medical school while staying at Duke. Dr. Kong came directly to Ohio Heart and Vascular Center in 2005, after his fellowship at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center.

He and his wife have two children, a boy and a girl. He is a dog lover, and has a pound-rescue dog named Zeus. Dr. Kong enjoys exercising regularly with interests in general fitness and martial arts. He holds a black belt in karate and was a tae kwon do instructor in college. He also follows college basketball and also enjoys films.

Dr. Kong finds the most rewarding part of being a physician is seeing patients improve. “When patients come in after I have treated them and say, ‘I feel better,’ that’s the best thing that I can hear.”
