New Technology performed by Dr. Answini of Ohio Heart

TMR or transmyocardial revascularization is an FDA approved surgical therapy for the treatment of severe angina and is now performed by Dr. Answini at the Christ Hospital. It is used to treat patients who are not candidates for stenting or bypass surgery that have severe chest pain despite maximum medical management.
A laser is used to create several strategically placed channels in the heart in areas that have poor blood flow. The laser channels then stimulate the growth of new blood vessels in the treated area.
Studies have shown that over 85% of patients will have a significant improvement in their angina and exercise capacity, and the procedure can be done with relatively low risk utilizing minimally invasive surgical techniques including robotic surgery.
If you think that you may be a candidate for this procedure or would like more information regarding TMR please speak with your health care provider or feel free to call 513-651-1180.
